Air France-KLM Falls on the Stock Exchange After Losing Billions in Corona Year

The Air France-KLM shares lost on Thursday. The French-Dutch aviation combination suffered a loss of more than 7 billion euros in the corona year 2020.

Builder BAM also fell, after a loss due to the corona crisis. The results of the insurer NN Group were also not to the taste of investors. Competitor ASR, which also came up with figures, did gain ground. The Amsterdam stock exchange remained virtually flat after the flow of corporate results.

Air France-KLM (minus 0.8 percent) had considerably fewer passengers in the disaster year 2020 due to travel restrictions and the lack of bookings. CEO Ben Smith speaks of the worst crisis ever for the aviation industry.

The company, which received more than 10 billion euros in government support, expects a challenging first quarter of the year. The company expects to be able to increase capacity again by the summer.

BAM fell 5.5 percent. The builder closed the corona year 2020 with a loss of 122 million euros. The second half of the year did show some improvement. The loss was mainly due to the problem division BAM International. BAM previously announced that it is saying goodbye to the unit, which is facing significant setbacks on several projects.
