US President Joe Biden will talk to top executives of large companies in the White House on Wednesday about his plans for a corona vaccination obligation.
These include companies such as entertainment and media group Walt Disney, software producer Microsoft and drugstore chain Walgreens Boots Alliance.
Last week, Biden announced that he wants to require companies with 100 people or more to vaccinate their employees against the coronavirus or have a weekly corona test if employees do not want a vaccine.
The measure affects approximately 80 million people in corporate America. It comes in addition to mandatory vaccination for federal government employees and people who work in healthcare facilities and hospitals who receive benefits from the government.
Biden said he had received a generally positive response to his plans, but people will always refuse to be vaccinated. According to the White House, the measure is necessary to prevent the advance of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
