Germany’s Border State Opens Primary Schools on May 11

The German state of North Rhine-Westphalia bordering the Netherlands will open primary schools from May 11.

German media reported this on Thursday, based on an email from the Ministry of Education in the state.

The schools closed in March to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The pupils of the fourth classes already receive lessons from 7 and 8 May. The rest of the students will then follow a rotation system from May 11.

The German federal states have far-reaching powers of their own to take or withdraw measures against the coronavirus.
