Hungary is still going to vaccinate people this year against Covid-19, that disease caused by the coronavirus.
According to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, this will start on 27 or 28 December.
Some other EU countries also want to start vaccinating citizens before the end of the year. They are still waiting for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to approve the corona vaccine from the companies Pfizer and BioNtech.
Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health has said that the first vaccination against the coronavirus in the Netherlands will take place on January 8, when the EMA gives the green light next week.
President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission already anticipated that EMA approval this week. According to her, vaccinations with the first corona vaccine will start across the European Union on December 27, 28 and 29.
“We protect our citizens together,” she tweeted. EU countries are themselves in charge of their vaccination campaign but would like to work together.
