Iran says it has asked France for help in the investigation into the accidental downing of the Ukrainian passenger plane on January 8.

The plane with 176 people on board, including 57 Canadians, was shot down with two missiles shortly after takeoff in Tehran. Iran has admitted that its troops shot down the plane and speaks of a “disastrous mistake”.
The investigation into the disaster, which involves Iran, Ukraine and Canada, is progressing slowly.
Iran accuses the US of not providing the software necessary to read the black boxes of the Boeing 737-800.
Canada and Ukraine accuse Tehran of delaying the investigation. In addition, the problems are caused by corona pandemic.
The course of the investigation was discussed this week with the United Nations Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The representative of Iran at this organization announced that it wants to have the boxes read in France. The French research organization BEA says it has not yet received an official request for assistance from Iran.
