Morocco decided on Thursday to ban passenger flights to and from the country until at least December 31, according to a note from the national aviation authorities.
The measure was introduced for two weeks in November but is therefore being extended.
The measure was taken for fear of spreading the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The number of flights to and from Morocco will be reduced to a minimum from 9 to 31 December.
Only repatriation flights are exceptionally allowed. Last month, the country had already decided to ban flights for two weeks from November 29.
According to the Moroccan news website Médias24, shipping connections have also been suspended for passengers until the end of this year.
