In several metro trains in the Paris region, it is too busy for travellers to keep enough distance from each other.
In the trainsets on the busiest lines, people are relatively close to each other, such as on line 13, French media report.
Many Parisians fear that they will not be able to travel because there are fewer subways. This creates extra crowds. The commuters do wear face masks. This has been made mandatory in public transport in France.
The government has relaxed corona measures as of Monday. Shops can open again and citizens can leave their home for no urgent reason.
However, the authorities in Paris are trying to ensure that during rush hours people only use public transport for their work. They must include an employer’s statement that says what time and where to work.
Until Monday, as part of the fight against coronavirus, it was mandatory everywhere in France to bring a written statement stating why someone left home.
Now only commuters in Paris still need it during rush hours.
