At CES, Sony revealed more details about the PS VR2 headset, the successor to the virtual reality headset that previously appeared for PlayStation.
Among other things, the device’s name is now fixed: it will be called PlayStation VR2. It is an add-on device for which you need a PlayStation 5. Furthermore, Sony says that it will have a higher resolution than its predecessor, with an HDR screen up to 4,000 x 2,040 pixels.
Also new is the eye-tracking inside, so you no longer have to put a camera somewhere in the room to follow your movements. Instead, the PS VR2 contains four integrated cameras, according to Sony, which is used to follow your eyes and the controllers.
Those controllers are given the name VR2 Sense, but little else is known about it. Sony previously said the controllers would feature adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, similar to those found on the PlayStation 5, for example. However, when the device will be released and how much it will cost is unknown.
In addition to hardware details, Sony is already announcing a first game for the PS VR2. It is about Horizon Call of the Mountain, a virtual reality game in the Horizon series. That probably means that you get back into the shoes of Aloy while she fights all kinds of robots with bow and arrow.
