The British Queen Elizabeth supports Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their desire to take a step back. That is stated in her statement that was brought out after the family meeting.
“My family and I fully support Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,” said the Queen.
“Although we would have favoured them to remain, full members of the royal family, we respect their wish to live a more self-regulating life. They remain valued members of our family.”
Elizabeth also reports that there will be a transition period in which Harry and Meghan will alternately live in Canada and the United Kingdom.
“Harry and Meghan have made it clear that they no longer want to depend on public funds. These are complex issues that we need to work out. The final decisions will be made in the coming days.”
The concert Monday at Sandringham was attended by the Queen, her son Crown Prince Charles and the princes William and Harry. On January 8, Harry and Meghan announced their intention to take a step back as members of the royal family. Harry is presently sixth in the line of succession.
