Ukraine’s security service SSU says it has shut down more than 100,000 fake social media accounts for spreading disinformation since the war with Russia began.
According to the SSU, the network of bots consists of five ‘bot farms’, managing more than 100,000 social media accounts.
They would be operated from Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Ternopil and Transcarpathia to discourage Ukrainians and sow panic. To that end, they would spread false information about the Russian invasion and the defence conditions.
In a statement, the security agency said that it invaded the bot farms and looted 100 GSM gateways, 10,000 SIM cards, and several laptops and SIM terminals.
