The assize trial over the terror attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015, will not resume until January 25, after one of the accused, Ali El Haddad Asufi, passed a positive corona test last weekend. This is reported by the French news agency AFP, based on sources close to the file.
Ali El Haddad Asufi, one of the 11 accused, showed symptoms during the hearing on Friday and took a positive self-test. The PCR test also turned out to be positive, the president of the special assize court in Paris, Jean-Louis Périès, said in a message to lawyers on Monday morning.
“That means the coming week will be completely jeopardized as the next useful test can’t take place until Friday,” the chairman added. There will be a short hearing on Tuesday to take note of the situation, said a source close to the file.
The trial had been halted for two weeks earlier because the main accused, Salah Abdeslam, had contracted corona at the end of December. A medical counter-expertise had Abdeslam cured and declared non-contagious on January 10. However, the trial resumed the next day.
