Another Round of Cancellations for CES

The list of companies that do not physically come to the CES electronics fair is growing again. The fair was due to start next week.

This week AMD, MSI, OnePlus and Proctor & Gamble are cancelling. In addition, major tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Intel, Meta, Amazon and Twitter have previously said they would not travel to Las Vegas.

A large part of the media will also follow the fair digitally again this year (including Data News). The major culprit here is the omikron variant of COVID-19 and the soaring infections that accompany it worldwide.

This means that the trading floor, with cancellations from almost fifty large tech companies, is starting to look a bit sparse. The companies that will come include Samsung, LG, Qualcomm and Sony. In addition, several others will hold virtual keynotes and seminars.

The fair went completely digital for its 2021 edition but would take place next week from January 5 to 8 with a physical component in Las Vegas. However, the organization of CES still says that the fair will continue physically, with the necessary facilities. For example, visitors must be vaccinated and wear mouth masks.
