In the Chinese capital Beijing, a corona infection has been diagnosed for the first time in almost two months.
According to Chinese media, this is a 52-year-old man who developed a fever and sought medical attention.
It is still unclear how the man contracted the virus. He wouldn’t have left town in the past two weeks. Also, the patient says he has had no contact with someone who has recently been abroad.
The virus first appeared in China at the end of last year and then spread around the world.
The Chinese authorities have been able to relax many strict measures, but remain vigilant because they want to prevent the virus from re-spreading.
China has reported over 84,000 infections and more than 4,600 deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.
That is much less than in severely affected countries such as the US, where more than 2 million corona cases have been reported, and nearly 113,000 patients have died.
