The coronavirus’s variant discovered in the Brazilian Amazon is three times more contagious than the original version.
That said Minister of Health Eduardo Pazuello, who emphasized in the Senate in the capital Brasilia that according to the first research results, vaccines are useful against the new variant.
Pazuello did not say which study he was relying on or which vaccines he was referring to. His ministry has not yet clarified this.
Several research institutions announced that their research into the new corona variant is still ongoing. This Brazilian variant has also surfaced in Europe, the United States and Canada.
The virus variant has also been linked to a disastrous outbreak in the Amazon city of Manaus.
There was a shortage of medical oxygen. Justice has now launched an investigation into Minister Pazuello. It is investigated whether there was negligence.
