Army units of the internationally recognized Libyan government in Tripoli claim the reconquest of two strategically essential cities west of the capital.
The militia of warlord Khalifa Haftar has been expelled there.
“Our troops have taken control of Sorman and Sabratha,” said military spokesman Mohammed Gnunu.
Both places are located on the coast between Tripoli and the border with Tunisia.
The region is essential, among other things, because of the massive oil and gas company Mellitah, with a pipeline to Italy.
