Protesters in Iran took to the streets on Saturday against their own government. This is reported by the Iranian news agency Fars News.
The rare protests in the capital, Tehran, follow on the plane crash on Wednesday, killing all 176 people.
Iran has admitted that it has brought down the device and speaks of a “human error”. There were 82 Iranians and 63 Canadians on the plane.
The demonstrators also tore up photos of Qassem Soleimani, the general who was killed by an American rocket in neighbouring Iraq.
His death caused tensions between the United States and Iran. It is estimated that between seven hundred and one thousand people took to the streets on Saturday.
Iran has “accidentally” knocked down the Boeing 737 of Ukraine International Airlines on Wednesday. Ukraine demands that those responsible be punished.
President Volodimir Zelenski also expects Iran to pay damages and the bodies of the victims to be repatriated.
