Those who meet in Microsoft Teams will soon be able to download an automatically written representation of the conversations afterwards.
The feature will roll out in September and should be available to everyone in early October. However, both the language of Teams must be set in English and English must be spoken.
It is not known whether and when Dutch or French-language support will be available.
Users will be given two options for recording and transcription after the update. This can be viewed in real-time in the desktop app or at the end of the meeting.
It is also possible to download the text, and the organizer chooses whether the unsubscribed version is saved.
To enable the new feature, Microsoft recommends that admins review their meeting policies in Teams to decide whether or not to enable the feature.
Microsoft has been working on live transcription or live translation in some of its products such as PowerPoint or Skype for some time.
But for meetings, the company’s focus has recently shifted to Teams, and the capability is now rolling out there too.
