Preliminary Fix for Windows Crashing While Printing

Microsoft has come up with a workaround to ensure that Windows 10 no longer crashes when you try to use specific network printers.

The problem surfaced last week after updates sent out during Patch Tuesday. As a result, some users got the error “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH” during a blue crash screen (BSOD).

The problems surfaced with network printers from Ricoh, Kyocera and Dymo, among others.

Microsoft confirms the problem with Bleeping Computer. Next week, the company promises a solution but is already presenting a provisional way to remedy the problem.

This includes removing a driver for universal printing. The company also has a video demonstrating the technical explanation.

An alternative solution is to remove the Patch Tuesday updates again, but that involves security risks.
