Russians are Not Allowed to Go to Work for a Week in the Fight Against Corona

In the fight against corona, Russians are not allowed to go to work for a week. Instead, they will be given paid time off from October 30 to November 7, Russian President Putin ordered.

The period may start earlier and last longer in certain areas. Putin called on the population to show responsibility and get vaccinated.

Russia’s top medical adviser had recently floated the proposal for a non-work week, just as there had been one last year to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The drastic measure turned out to help.

Due to the alarming rise in the number of infections, the pressure on healthcare is increasing rapidly. Only a third of people over 60 have been vaccinated, while 86 percent of corona deaths belonged to this age group.

Earlier this week, the Russian capital Moscow decided that unvaccinated people over the age of 60 must stay at home for the next four months.
