Ukraine continues to urge NATO countries to boycott Russian oil and gas. “We will continue with that,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Koeleba said in a two-day meeting in Brussels.
“I think the deal Ukraine is offering is fair. You give us weapons, and we sacrifice our lives, and the war remains in Ukraine.”
EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell has said a fifth sanctions package against Russia would arrive on Thursday or Friday, including a phasing out of Russian coal imports. In addition, a ban on Russian oil and gas would further increase the already sharply increased prices in the EU.
At the same time, Russia would receive a lot less money to help finance the war in Ukraine.
Koeleba also said that Ukraine especially wants more weapons from Germany, such as aircraft and air defence systems. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has said he wants to discuss it with allies in Brussels.
