In France, 418 patients died from coronavirus in the past day. That’s significantly more than Sunday when authorities registered 292 deaths, compared to 318 Saturday.
The total number of deaths in France is now at 3024. This makes France the fourth country with more than 3000 deaths from the virus.
The total number of confirmed infections was 44,550 compared to 40,174 a day earlier.
In the country, 20,946 people are now hospitalized with Covid-19, of whom 5,056 are in intensive care, the government said in its daily update.
The French death toll includes only those who died in a hospital and not those who died at home or in a retirement home.
