Despite additional measures against the spread of the coronavirus that has been in force in Germany since this week, there is a record number of new infections for the second day in a row.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the German counterpart of the RIVM, reported on Friday morning that another 21,506 corona infections were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.
That is another big jump compared to the day before. On Thursday morning, the RKI already reported a record value of 19,990 new infections.
The total number of diagnosed cases of the highly contagious lung virus in Germany now stands at 619,089.
In the past 24 hours, an additional 166 people died in the Federal Republic of Covid-19. The total death toll is now 11,096 people.
