California Requires Solar Panels for New Buildings. California obliges solar panels for new homes from 2020 onwards. It is the first American state that does that.
According to the state, the measure provides an environmental gain comparable to 115,000 cars off the road. “We can no longer allow our residents to live in houses that are equivalent to petrol guzzlers,” argues a spokesperson.
Opponents warn that houses will be about 10,000 dollars more expensive in an already spanned housing market. The government of the state points out that a mortgage is indeed rising by about $ 40 a month, but energy costs will fall by $ 80.
California has set ambitious environmental policy. The state wants to get half of its electricity from sustainable sources by 2030. At the end of last year that was about 30 percent.
