The two American aircraft carriers in the Pacific are affected by the coronavirus that spreads quickly on board. The U.S. navy base Yokosuka in Japan is also in lockdown.

That has serious implications for U.S. defence and security in the Pacific.

The situation is worst on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. There, at least 100 of the nearly 5,000 persons on board would be infected with the coronavirus.

Since those people live very close together, the virus has spread quickly.
