DataCore Acquires Object Storage Specialist Object Matrix

American DataCore Software has acquired Object Matrix, a British specialist in object storage and media archiving. The company’s devices and cloud solutions will become part of DataCore’s Periphery portfolio.

Object Matrix develops MatrixStore equipment on-premises, hybrid solutions and cloud storage solutions. The products enable broadcasters and service providers to manage their content at every stage of the media lifecycle. Object Matrix customers include NBC Universal, Warner Bros. Discovery and the BBC.

The acquisition accelerates DataCore.NEXT’s vision is to improve the customer process from the core to the edge of the cloud. “By leveraging DataCore’s leadership team, global distribution, and more than 10,000 customers worldwide, we are well positioned,” added Object Matrix CEO Jonathan Morgan.

Object Matrix’s acquisition follows from two previous strategic acquisitions by DataCore, Caringo, in January 2021 and MayaStor, in November 2021. Hundreds of customers in more than 25 countries now use Caringo’s object storage software, Swarm, which grew 35 percent in 2022.

DataCore Bolt (developed through the acquisition of MayaStor) is a Kubernetes platform for storage and data services for container applications. MayaStor is approaching one million downloads per year, and its user base has increased by more than half a percent since 2021.
