Formula 1 Races Start Again on Hour, Free Practice Sessions Shorter

The races in Formula 1 will start again next season on the hour instead of ten minutes past the hour, as was the case last season.

The free practice sessions on Friday will be shortened; from 90 minutes to an hour.

The GP of the Netherlands starts on Sunday, September 5, at 3 p.m. The season kicks off on March 28 with the Bahrain GP, starting at 6 p.m. local time.

By shortening both the first and second free practice, Formula 1 hopes “that the teams will be forced to take more action on the track to get their cars ready for qualifying and the race”.

The season was to start in Melbourne, but the Australian GP was moved to later in the season due to the corona restrictions.
