The top man of the popular Chinese app TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, will meet several European Commissioners in Brussels on Tuesday at his own request.
The company must prepare for the new European regulations on disinformation.
Among others, Chew will see Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, and also her colleagues Vera Jourova (Values and Transparency), Ylva Johansson (Internal Affairs) and Didier Reynders (Justice).
They will talk about privacy, content regulations and safety for minors on the internet, among other things.
The EU recently reprimanded Twitter CEO Elon Musk for fears he will not allocate the resources requested by the EU for moderation and the fight against disinformation. European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton called on him to ‘significantly step up’ efforts.
