Supporters of Democratic nominee for President Joe Biden gather in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware, for a speech by Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris.
Some 200-300 cars with Biden trailers are expected at the drive-in event, where Biden will address his audience from an outdoor stage.
While no clear victory could be seen for any of the parties, the arrived spectators watched the big screens intently. A 37-year-old woman who drove her son to the meeting says she is excited.
“When Joe Biden becomes president, I will be delighted,” said the woman. “We have hope for a better future for our country.”
A 32-year-old Biden supporter was cautiously optimistic. “I’m cautious about getting excited, but I think it’s going well, especially given the number of people who voted early,” he says.
The man says he is fed up with the daily drama surrounding the Trump presidency and says he would like to see some “normalcy” again. “I think it should usually be boring in the White House,” he added. “If not, you’re doing something wrong.”
The man’s sister says she fears that a rash will take days to arrive. “I keep all hope to me for a while,” said the 30-year-old woman.
