Russian Prime Minister Mishustin Returns to Work After coronavirus Diagnosis

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who was infected with the coronavirus, has resumed his official duties. The Kremlin announced this on Tuesday.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belushov temporarily took over the duties of Mishustin after his illness became known in late April. Mishustin was then treated at a hospital in Moscow.

On Monday, Mushustin held a video conference about the corona epidemic. According to Russian media, Mishustin was still in hospital at the time. He has his own office there.

It is not clear whether he has already left the hospital.

In late April, it was announced that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had contracted Covid-19 disease. Construction Minister Vladimir Yakushov and Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova were also infected.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitri Peskov also became infected with the new coronavirus.

According to a Kremlin spokesman, Peskov is being treated in hospital. Details have not been disclosed further. Peskov had been working from home for a while.

Peskov belongs to the immediate circle of the Russian President.

He has repeatedly confirmed that Putin is healthy and is also regularly tested. Putin directs his country from his residence in the Moscow suburb of Novo-Ogarjovo.
