The new Pixel Tablet sales are reportedly disappointing, meaning a newer model will not be released for now.
That’s according to various Android news sites. According to the rumours, work on the next Pixel tablet has been temporarily halted due to concerns about its profitability. Depending on who you ask, all development on new tablets has been postponed, or there will be no Pixel Tablet 2 but a 3.
Last year, Google released a new Pixel Tablet. However, the device does not seem to have brought much growth to the tablet market, mainly dominated by Apple’s iPad.
However, that does not mean no Android tablets are on the market. OnePlus and Samsung, both also makers of Android phones, have tablets that Google supports.
If Google were to give up making its own tablets again, it would be the second time. In 2019, the company announced it would no longer make this type of hardware. In 2023, the tech giant finally re-entered the market with the first Google Pixel Tablet. A second has only surfaced in marketing photos for the broader Pixel 9 series.
